Diagnosis

Premature ageing, as characterised by symptoms such as pigmentation, sun spots, fine lines, wrinkles and sagging skin, is effectively a loss of structural integrity within the skin. As we age, the skin’s matrix becomes thin and the skin loses its bounce.

Ultraviolet exposure speeds up this process by disrupting the normal architecture of connective tissue within the dermis. UV decreases collagen and elastin and alters the cross linked structure of collagen and elastin fibres within the dermal extracellular matrix.

Abnormal material containing elastin and fibrillin accumulates and appears to occupy areas of lost collagen: this is called solar elastosis. To act against wrinkles, fine lines and sagging skin, we must first understand the processes that cause skin to age.

Poor circulation and lymph drainage result in a loss of structural integrity, weakened fragile capillaries, decreased skin density, decline in collagen production causing the dermal structures to deteriorate and the skin to sag. With the decline in enzymatic activity, cell division slows down and solar keratosis and environmental impact become evident. Ageing is the result of a decline in skin functionality

Solution

As premature ageing and sun-damage is a result of structural destruction and deterioration in the normal functioning of skin, DMK approach this condition by revising old and damaged tissue, rebuilding the skin and facilitating optimal function.
